EGG HARBOR CITY, N.J., April 28.— One of the most disastrous forest fires that South Jersey had seen in years started Thursday at Atsion and is still burning. Six dwellings and a large barn at Batsto, the property of Joseph Wharton. have been destroyed, as well as thousands of dollars worth of timberland. The fire is still burning fiercely at Weekstown. Many men are at work trying to control the flames, and It is thought they will get the upper hand to-night, as the wind showed signs of going down before sundown.
