Daniel Randolph founded a sawmill here prior to the Revolutionary War. In 1783 Benjamin Randolph, a Philadelphia native, built a furnace here, for which the town is most famous for. Today most of the property is owned by Stephen Lee, the local cranberry magnate.
Also known as Randolph's Mill, Speedwell Mill, and Speedwell Furnace.
